Event Type

Late in WWII, the German military fielded rocket engines in a series of unusual aircraft and rockets like the Me-163 rocket interceptor or the A-4/V-2 tactical ballistic missile. While well advanced and far ahead of the technology available to the Allies, they had limited to no success for the German war effort, and were produced under horrendous conditions using forced labor. With the unique artifacts from World War II Germany on display in the Flying Heritage Collection as a backdrop, senior spacecraft propulsions engineer and aerospace historian Dr. Dieter M. Zube will discuss their revolutionary propulsion systems. His presentation will include the historical context of their development, production, and military use as well as their influence on post war missiles and space exploration.

FHC members $15.00; general public, $20.00
