WarbirdsNews has another great piece from Matt Jolley and Warbird Radio that we thought we would share with you this morning for Warbird Radio Favorite Friday! This week Matt Jolley will revisit a story about deadly aerial duels over the trenches of the Western Front during the Great War.

Matt Jolley – Here’s this week’s Friday Favorite! In 2011 we interviewed Denny May (son of WWI Canadian fighter ace W.R.’Wop’ May) who told us his father’s story of encountering the Baron Manfred von Richthofen… the legendary Red Baron. This show ranks among my top favorites since these stories are so seldom told today. Lieutenant May’s famous encounter is arguably one of the most debated moments in aviation history. Who shot down the Red Baron? The only part of the story that is not contested is that May was chased and narrowly escaped. Hear the story today with you own ears. Until next week!
