KB-50J to be Displayed at the Pima Air and Space Museum

After 6 months of meticulous restoration the KB-50J is now fully restored and ready to be displayed at Pima Air and Space museum. The Boeing B-50 Superfortress strategic bomber was a post–World War II revision of the Boeing B-29 Superfortress, fitted with more powerful Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major radial engines, stronger structure, a taller fin, and other improvements.The Boeing KB-50 was a modified Boeing B-50 Superfortress for air refueling needs by the United States Air Force. Two primary tanker versions were developed and produced, the KB-50J and the KB-50K.

According to Scott Marchand, the Museum’s Director of Collections and Restoration “This is our largest restoration project since the B-36 Peacemaker in 2008.”
