It was March 4, 1944 during the first  daylight raid escorting bombers over Berlin that Chuck Yeager,  flying  his P-51 ‘Glamorous Glenn’ shot down his first  enemy aircraft. Chuck Yeager shot down a Messerschmidt Me 109 that day, unfortunately the next day on March 5th he was shot down by three FW-190’s.
