(Image Credit: darkmagnoblade)A new warbird enthusiast group is forming up, the F-104 Starfighter Association. The F-104 Starfighter Association is dedicated to preserving more of the history of the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter, the Canadair CF-104 Starfighter and all of their variants, through first-person accounts and photographs from the pilots, engineers, maintainers and others who were associated with the legacy of these historically significant jet fighters.

Stating that “The legacy of the F-104 Starfighter is too excellent to be forgotten,” the association, which is not directly associated with Lockheed or Lockheed Martin, is focused on providing high quality electronic publications devoted to the F-104. There are no dues to receive their e-publications, but they do require all members to submit one F-104-related short story, pictures or other information about the Starfighters at least once per year to contribute towards preserving the legacy of the Starfighter.

I was injured in the Middle East and have lost some memory. I am trying to piece together my father’s life, and was told that he flew the 104s out of Nellis.
A few answers would be very helpful and very appreciated.
What was the process for becoming a pilot in 1958 or so? He initially enlisted (I believe).
How long was OCS and where? How long was flight training?
Did he need a degree back then to be accepted?
What would his commitment be upon completion of flight training?
Any information would be most helpful.
